On the afternoon of March 17, the School of Geological Engineering and Geomatics (CGEG), Institute of Geophysics, Chang’an University convened a meeting for undergraduate capstone presentations at the Weishui Campus. All CGEG teachers and students of the 2021 class attended.
Students who submitted the capstone projects were divided into four groups by their subjects. The first review panel was led by Professor Wang Wanyin and Associate Professor Lu Baoliang, with thesis topics primarily on the fields of gravity and magnetic, space physics, and logging; The second review panel was headed by Professor Li Xiu and Associate Professor Feng Bing, with thesis topics mainly on geoelectricity and electrical exploration; In the third group, the capstone projects mainly focusing on seismic exploration were assessed by the expert panel with Professor Li Qingchun and Professor Li Zhongsheng as team leaders; And Professor Bai Chaoying and Associate Professor Shao Guangzhou led the fourth review panel to assess capstone projects themed on seismology.
First, students reported on the significance of their topics, the developments at home and abroad, the research content of their graduation projects (theses), technical means, expected results, and the task schedule. Then, the review panel questioned and provided guidance on the issues in the presentations. Finally, the panel leaders summarized and commented on the presentations.
The capstone presentations helped deepen students’ understanding of their thesis topics and research methods, laying a solid foundation for subsequent tasks and training their expression skills.
