First session of college-enterprise cooperation online course successfully held

In order to enrich the students’ activities during the lockdown, the Department of Geological Engineering organized the first session of college-enterprise cooperation online course named “New technology of geological engineering data and information”. Dr. Kaifeng Wu, senior technical director of Infineon Technologies (China) Co., Ltd., gave his lecture on “Automotive Power System and Autonomous Driving” on January 19. 2022. The lecture was invited by Prof. Ping Li and hosted by Dr. Penghui Ma. Many teachers and freshman attended thislecture.

Dr. Wu, very experienced and well knowledged, has been working in automotive industry for more than 30 years. Dr. Wu comprehensively analyzed the automotive power system and development process, and put forward the profound insights of the automotive industry on people's life and social development. “New technology of geological engineering data and information” is a new course offered for the undergraduate students for the first time. It is a milestone success in seeking for cooperation between enterprises and ourdepartment.

After the lecture, Prof. Tonglu Li, Dr. Yuxiang Cheng, Dr. Xinghua Zhu and other teachers had a thorough discussion with Dr Wu. Also, many students expressed their interest in automobile knowledge and posed a variety of questions: “What is a concept car?”,“What is the current level of car battery development?”, “What are the advantages/disadvantages and prospects of autonomous driving?” , “Why not replace GPS with Beidou?”,“How is the explosion-proof performance of blade battery?”,etc.Dr. Wu answered every question by sharing his opinions and experiences. He was impressed by that the students’ curiosity and eagerness to learn. Dr. Wu also gave raised some questions about this lecture for the students. They were required to answer these questions in MOOC system, which will be included as part of the coursegrade.
