In July8th2022, the first meeting of the first Council and Technical Committee of the National Engineering Research Center for Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration(“Engineering Center” in short) was grandly held in Beijing both online and offline. A total of 25 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering and more than 150 representatives from 22 sub-centers attended the meeting. The Engineering center is one of “Four Centers” started by the General Proposal, which shows how ChinaNationalOffshoreOilCorporationthoroughly implemented the important instructions of the General Secretary on April 10th.Based on the national strategy, industry development and talent growth needs, the Engineering Center will contribute to the development of blue land, ensure national energy security, and break through the blockade of coretechnologies.
As one of the 14 co-construction units of the Engineering Center, Chang’an University has set up the Sub-Center of Gravity and Magnetic Data Analysis for Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration. This meeting had a sub-venue in Geoscience and TechnologyBuilding in Chang’an University. Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, member of the technical committee of Engineering Center, Prof. Peng Jianbing; Vice President of Chang’an University, Vice Chairman of the Council of Engineering Center, Prof. Fan Wen; Dean of School of Geological Engineering and Geomatics in Chang’an University, Council member of Engineering Center, Prof. Li Zhenhong; Member of the Technical Committee of Engineering Center, Director of sub-center, Prof. Wang Wanyin; and sub-center liaison, engineer Ms. Ji Xiaolin, attended thismeeting.

The meeting announced the member list of the first Council, Technical Committee and Director Committee of the Engineering Center, and reviewed the construction results and development planning report of the Engineering Center as well as the development report of 10 sub-centers. Academician Peng Jianbing, on behalf of Chang’an University, put forward some constructive suggestions on the construction achievements and development plan of the Engineering Center. Prof. Wang Wanyin, on behalf of the Sub-Center in Chang’an University, delivered a report about the work and development of Sub-Center of Gravity and Magnetic Data Analysis for Offshore Oil and GasExploration.
The National Engineering Research Center for Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration is the third national engineering research center that Chang’an University participated in(After National Engineering Research Center for Highway and Bridge Efficient Maintenance, Safety and Durability and the National Engineering Research Center for Highway Maintenance Equipment). It is also the first national engineering research center that directions of Earth science in our school participated in. The Sub-Center in Chang’an University will focus on the field of gravity and magnetic data analysis for offshore oil and gas exploration as well as integrated geophysical exploration. Also, the Sub-Center will tackle key technological challenges of gravity and magnetic and integrated geophysical exploration to achieve independence and control of core technologies, managing to establish an international leading innovation center and talent training base for gravity and magnetic and integrated geophysical exploration for offshore oil andgas.
