From September 27 to 28, 2022, Nan Yun, the Deputy Director and Chief Engineer of Beijing Institute of Geological Hazard Prevention, with his four colleagues, came to the College of Geological Engineering and Surveying, Chang’an University to participate in a two-day special training on loess landslides, which was hosted by Professor Li Tonglu and Associate Professor ZhangChangliang.
On September 27, in combination with the latest achievements of loess research, Professor Li Tonglu and Associate Professor Zhang Changliang conducted a 6-hour explanation and practical training in the geotechnical lecture hall. The main contents included the type, the macro and micro structure, the distribution characteristics and the water sensitivity of the loess, the mechanical characteristics, the deformation characteristics and the strength of unsaturated loess, the type, the hazard causing factors, the formation mechanism and prevention of the loess landslide. At last, Professor Li Tonglu discussed the technical problems in the field investigation and survey of loess landslides with theparticipants.
On September 28, Professor Li Tonglu with other participants went to the deep loess landslide area on the south bank of Jinghe River in Jingyang County and the shallow loess landslide area in Xiliangjia Village at the junction of Shaanxi and Gansu to conduct a field investigation. Professor Li Tonglu conducted a field explanation about the field division method of loess stratum, the field judgment and description of loess landslide, the field discrimination of the deformation and failure characteristics of loess landslide, etc.
The special training will help promote the external exchange and publicity of our institute, and strengthen the communication and integration of industry, education and research in the field of geological hazardprevention.
